Think Outside The Envelope With Your Unique Quinceanera Invitations!

You want your Quinceanera invitations to be unique, but shopping for invitations brings nothing that strikes your fancy? Try thinking way outside the box, at least to get ideas. Your Quinceanera invitations are one part of the celebration that gives you plenty of opportunities to stretch your creative muscles.
First, don’t limit yourself to delivery in a flat envelope via standard mail service. What if you could send them in a box? Or a plastic bottle? Or a piece of wood? The post office will deliver a wide variety of shapes and sizes. You will pay extra for unusual shapes and materials, but let’s start with no limitations just to get you thinking. I once mailed a gift in a two liter plastic bottle along with confetti and other decorations. No outer box – just the bottle with a label. It was great!
Second, what if you didn’t even use the post office to deliver your Quinceanera invitations? What if they were delivered by a silver knight on a white horse? OK, that may be venturing into fantasy and for some, but would it be impossible? Even for a few of your guests? Even in your fantasy? Just go with me for a minute. Maybe a singing messenger could deliver them. Or a royal servant, a “casting director”, a clown? You can get really creative if you have a theme for your Quinceanera.
For example, if your sweet 15 celebration is an Aladdin theme, your invitations could be rolled in a scroll and placed in a genie’s bottle. If the theme is a Hawaiian luau, the invitations could be attached to an actual lei (that flower necklace that Hawaiians wear) and delivered in person by your chambelanes dressed in white pants and Hawaiian shirts. If your celebration is a princess theme, your invitations could be read aloud from a scroll by a visiting royal servant (costumed appropriately, of course), who leaves behind the formal paper invitation. If your theme is rock & roll, your invitations could be in the form of a concert poster.
Really let your imagination run wild and think of ideas as if budget, vehicles, materials, and personnel were no object. After you have some ideas, then start to consider what your real limitations are. If you don’t have access to a knight and a white stallion, you could decide to settle for the black stallion or simply a person on foot outfitted by your local costume store. You’ll likely find that your more outgoing family and friends would jump at the chance to “perform” the delivery of your Quinceanera invitations. Also, all your Quinceanera invitations don’t have to be handled the same way. You could mail traditional invitations to out of town guests, but limit the really creative ones to your local area.
Of course, you can’t go wrong with the traditional, formal Quinceanera invitations delivered by traditional mail service. This method has all the elegance you could desire. But if you’re looking for creative, unique Quinceanera invitations to match your personality, don’t be afraid to “think outside the envelope!”

Once again on the topic of Quincera themes, here’s a video that’s very nicely done, showing an example of an Aladdin-theme celebration. Not sure if it’s at Disney, although it’s clear that the Quinceanera is a high quality occasion. The theme’s complete, including the Sultan, and even a magic lamp!

It’s fun to imagine the possibilities for invitations to this Quinceanera. They could include anything from Disney images, to formal scrolls, or even include a little “desert sand” (gold glitter or real) in the invitation envelope. The invitations really set the tone of the celebration, and a little imagination can go a long way!

Quinceanera Themes With The Help Of Disney’s Imagination

Disney started promoting their Quinceanera celebration packages not long ago, and when you consider how girls are brought up on the magical tales of Disney princesses, it seems a perfect fit.

There’s a great photo display of a Quinceanera complete with a glass carriage at a blog titled, Violent Pillow. I know, strange title, but the pictures are cool. While there are no references to the type of Quinceanera invitations that were used, surely they used the princess theme. Disney may have even provided the Sweet 15 invitations. Most Quinceaneras are not held at Disney, but you can steal some of their ideas to work into your Sweet 15 celebration in your own town.

Part of what makes the Disney Quince unique is the theme. Designing your Quinceanera around a theme is not only be fun, but can actually help plan the details such as invitations, decorations, transportation, and food. A theme could be princess/fairy tale, costume, Hawaiian luau, Arabian nights, old Mexico… even pirates if you like. Choosing the theme can help give you ideas for the Quinceanera invitations, decorations, Quinceanera gown, location, party favorors, and music. Of course, the type of trasportation could be used in the theme as well. Your options aren’t limited to limos. Options include horse-drawn carriages, fire trucks, decorated cars, antique vehicles, etc. Think about some of the floats you’ve seen in parades to get your imagination started. Those elegant floats in the Rose Parade are usually just small tractors decorated with flowers!

The invitations are one of the easiest ways to incorporate a theme idea. You can even take inexpensive stock Quinceanera invitations such as these, customize the content to fit your theme, and print them at home. It’s also easy to add something to the invitation relating your theme. For example, some glitter or star confetti enclosed with your invitation helps integrate a theme such as “Fairy Tale” or “Under the Stars”.

Let your imagination run free. Borrow ideas from Disney and Hollywood to get you started. Thinking about a theme adds some fun to your Quince and also provides a direction to the entire party.

A Poem For Your Quinceanera Invitation – Yours or Someone Else’s

If you’re making your own Quinceanera Invitations, or writing the words yourself, a poem can make the invitation original, possibly even becoming a keepsake for your guests.

If the format of the Quinceanera invitations provides enough space, try including a poem about what this event means to you. If you’re creative, try writing your own poem. And don’t be too critical of your ability. If it comes from the heart, it will likely be nice. The verses don’t even have to rhyme. If you find yourself forcing the words, try looking for inspiration from other poetry. I found an announcement about a Quinceanera accessory site that sponsors a poetry contest (http://sweet15idea.wordpress.com/). Here’s part of a poem attributed to Christina Sandoval of San Antonio about her father:

So be creative, be original, and if that fails, “borrow” a poem and make your Quinceanera invitations special!
